Privacy policy

LEPROSY RELIEF CANADA, (We) is committed to protecting the privacy of your personal information and is committed to protecting them and using them only for the purposes for which they were collected. The objective of this policy is to inform you on our privacy practices.

Scope and application

The policy applies to all information collected by LEPROSY RELIEF CANADA through its direct mail campaigns, and on its website, www.slc-lr.ca , as well as related sites when you visit them, use their functionalities and make a donation.

Information Collected

When you choose to provide your name, address, city, province, postal code and e-mail address to receive communications from Leprosy Relief Canada by email or mail, we collect and use this information only for sending information and communications about our projects, campaigns, and initiatives. At any time, you may withdraw your consent to receive these messages by following the unsubscribe mechanism provided for this purpose.

When you choose to make a donation online, Leprosy Relief Canada collects your name, address, city, province, postal code, and e-mail address. Only the partner responsible for processing the transaction, CanadaHelps.org, uses the information from your credit or debit card, or PayPal to complete your transaction.

When you choose to make a donation by mail or phone, Leprosy Relief Canada collects your name, address, city, province, postal code, e-mail address (if applicable) and the last four digits of the credit card (if used). Leprosy Relief Canada uses this information only to identify donors and for the sending of tax receipts immediately following the transaction in accordance with the requirements of applicable legislation. Only the transaction processing company, DonorPerfect.net, uses the information on your credit card to complete your transaction. Only the institution responsible for processing the transactions, National Bank of Canada, uses your bank account information to complete your monthly donations.

Leprosy Relief Canada may collect information from your computer or other electronic devices when you visit the website. This information may include but is not limited to, the type of browser used, the date and time of your visit, and the information provided by tracking technologies. Under no circumstances will Leprosy Relief Canada attach this information to personally identifiable information.

The above information is collected and used for the following reasons:

  • To send you information and communications about Leprosy Relief Canada, its projects, and initiatives by email or by mail.. 
  • To allow you to make a donation, to identify yourself as a donor and to send you your tax receipt;
  • To address the issues that are reported to us;

Leprosy Relief Canada uses personal information only for the purposes for which it was collected.

Leprosy Relief Canada retains your personal information for a reasonable period of time, either to achieve the stated objectives or in accordance with the provisions of the Act, whichever is longer. Once the personal information has become useless, we ensure that it is anonymous or we destroy it to protect it from unauthorized access or communication.

For information collected when you make a donation, Leprosy Relief Canada will retain this information for a minimum of 10 years. At the expiration of these ten years or when your account becomes inactive, we ensure their anonymity or destroy them to protect them from unauthorized access or communication.

We never disclose your personal information to anyone outside of Leprosy Relief Canada, with the exception of:

  • Our suppliers of goods or services retained to perform certain functions on our behalf (e.g., mailing of Action Report to Donors). Leprosy Relief Canada shall take the necessary measures to ensure that these providers process your information for the sole purpose determined by Leprosy Relief Canada;
  • Any entity in the event of a merger or change in control of Leprosy Relief Canada, in whole or in part;
  • Any public authority, if required by law, or to defend our rights, or otherwise in accordance with the law.

Security

All data is maintained by Leprosy Relief Canada on servers with high-security systems, protected against unauthorized access and malicious use. Only those (employees) who need access to information in the course of their duties have access to it.
